LDC’s Retail Leaders Forum: a day of collaboration, debate and thought leadership

Yesterday we held our second thought leadership event, the Retail Leaders’ Forum, in the inspiring surroundings of the Saïd Business School in Oxford. The day was designed to bring together academics across some of the UK’s most prestigious institutions including UCL, the University of Oxford, the University of Stirling, the University of Liverpool and Cardiff University with some of the UK’s leading practitioners in the retail and leisure marketplace.

A select group of LDC contacts were invited to come along to the day, including representatives from Clarks, British Land, Tesco, LEON, Tristan Capital Partners, Dixons Carphone, Pizza Hut and more.

Retail Week Live 2017: a round-up

It was a packed 48 hours at Retail Week Live, with a diverse, eclectic mix of speakers making for a very thought-provoking couple of days. Fellow delegates might now be suffering from the same aversion as I am to the words 'artificial intelligence' which has now ousted ‘multi-channel’ as the concept du jour.

World Retail Congress 2015 – where do shops fit?

A month ago today I was lucky enough to be flying out to Rome as part of the UK Trade & Investment World Retail Congress delegation.

Initially I was daunted, not least because the relentless focus on “omni-channel”, “digital” and “disruptive technologies” made this humble location planner feel a bit irrelevant. I was seemingly a dinosaur in a world of touch screen jackets and beacon technology. What a tragedy, still in my mid-twenties and already on the industry shelf…
