LDC's Top Five Fast Food Brands of 2017 - #1 Five Guys

23 May 2018 by Sarah Phillips

Five Guys is an American burger joint which originated in Virginia DC in 1986, when the Murrell brothers were encouraged by their parents to start a business. As the family grew, so did the business, which resulted in them naming the brand that is known in several corners of the world as ‘Five Guys’ (representing the five Murrell brothers). The unique selling point for Five Guys was the ability for its customers to be able to customise their burger with as many fresh toppings as you could imagine. BDO’s High Street Sales Tracker

21 February 2018 by Local Data Company

The High Street Sales Tracker (HSST) is a weekly report on like-for-like retail sales which is compiled from retail contributors across the UK. HSST works by bringing together the results of retailers with not only a physical presence but also those with multi-channels and those purely online. BDO collate the data and create a like-for-like measure and through the trends and analysis that they have available, issue a weekly report alongside more in-depth reports. This offers contributors an accurate way of benchmarking their performance against others in the market and against the general consumer shopping patterns. The HSST covers fashion, homewares and lifestyle, in-store and online.

Having a field day: My time with an LDC field researcher

19 February 2018 by Nikki Sheinkop

For the past five weeks working at the Local Data Company I’ve had the opportunity to examine the comprehensive data that we have on the retail and leisure market across GB. Using LDO (LDC’s location insight platform) I can see extensive information on an entire town whether it be the number and nature of all the restaurants and shops in a location or the health of a specific street. LDC track over 600,000 units on a 6 or 12 month basis and use a combination of desk research and field research to keep the database up to date. I wanted to know more about what the source of all this information is.

05 February 2018 by Nikki Sheinkop

It’s a month into the new year and that means our New Year’s resolutions have probably been broken, our new gym memberships have been cancelled and that skill we wanted to learn will have to wait until next year. We might be back in our routines, but the retail community is certainly looking fit and healthy.
